On February 12 at 5pm – Mount Holyoke College Art Museum Reception for a Civil War Pictorial
On Tuesday, February 12, from 5:00 – 6:30 pm, The South Hadley & Granby Chamber of Commerce, Lynn Pasquerella, President, Mount Holyoke College and Mount Holyoke College Art Museum invite Chamber members, colleagues, friends and family to a reception and exhibition of Kara Walker:Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated). Special Guest John R. Stomberg, Florence Finch Abbott Director, MHC Art Museum will lead a tour of the exhibit.
With renewed interest in the Civil War highlighted by Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book,”Team of Rivals” and the recent movie, “Lincoln,” this exhibit explores the centrality of race in America and challenges the notion that slavery ended with the war.
